Over the past year, Rolling with Scissors has grown far beyond where it started. What began as a late-night community radio show has evolved into a full, independent transmitter — stretching across the airwaves, the internet, and every platform we could get our hands on.
We’re posting weekly episodes, deep-dive blog posts, and updates across Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, and X. We’ve built an RSS feed. We’re sending email reminders. We’ve rebuilt the blog to make it easier to find and listen to new episodes. Everything we’ve done has been about making Rolling with Scissors easier to access, easier to enjoy, and harder to lose in the noise of today’s media overload.
Which brings us to the next possible step — and the reason for this post:
Should we build a Rolling with Scissors mobile app?
An app would make it easier to: – Access new episodes directly without relying on social media feeds. – Read blog posts in one clean mobile place. – Get show updates without depending on Facebook or Instagram algorithms. – Stream Rolling with Scissors right from your home screen.
It sounds great — and maybe it is. But apps aren’t free, and they aren’t simple. Even though there are ways to convert a website into an app without starting from scratch, it still costs time, energy, money, and ongoing upkeep. We would need to build it once for Android and once for iPhone. We would need to submit it to the App Store and Google Play. We would have to maintain it — and do it all while still keeping the website, email lists, and broadcasts rolling every week.
In other words: Building an app is a commitment. And before making that commitment, I want to know one simple thing:
Would you actually use it?
If you’re reading this post, you already know how easy it is to listen to Rolling with Scissors right now: – You can listen live over the air on WORT 89.9 FM (2 AM to 5 AM Central every Tuesday morning). – You can stream past episodes for two weeks at archive.wortfm.org. – You can check out new blog posts and updates directly at rwsradio.com.
You don’t need an app to listen today. But maybe — just maybe — having an app would make your experience better, faster, or more fun.
That’s what I want to find out.
If an app would make a real difference for you — if it would make you listen more, read more, stay more connected to Rolling with Scissors — then I want to know. If you think it would be cool but you know you probably wouldn’t use it much — that’s important too. And if you think it’s totally unnecessary — I need to know that just as much.
Because here’s the thing: This show, this platform, this crazy experiment called Rolling with Scissors — it’s built for you. Not for algorithms. Not for advertisers. Not for App Store charts.
For you.
So please — whether you love the idea or you don’t care at all — take a second to leave a comment directly on rwsradio.com under this post. Not on Facebook. Not on Instagram. Right here where the signal starts.
Because that’s how we’ll know whether to move forward, or stay focused where we are.
Either way — thanks for being part of it. Thanks for tuning in, clicking through, showing up, and being part of this little rebellion against what radio was supposed to become.
More soon, Lucas
