Let’s talk about what’s happening in California — and why it should scare the living hell out of anyone who gives even half a damn about democracy.
ICE raids in Los Angeles sparked massive protests. People in the streets, demanding justice, fighting back against what they see as authoritarian immigration enforcement. That alone is intense. But then the federal government took it up a notch — deploying National Guard troops under Title 10 and putting Marines on standby. I didn’t stutter. Marines. Active-duty U.S. military on U.S. soil — pointed inward.
And before you roll your eyes and say “yeah, but it’s happened before,” let’s remember something:
The last time federal troops were used like this in California was during the 1992 LA riots. You remember that? The National Guard was called in, but with strict rules of engagement. There were legal frameworks. Boundaries. Accountability. People still got hurt, but there was a structure — an attempt to balance public order with constitutional rights.
Fast-forward to now? The man in charge — who I will respectfully refer to as the fucking Cheeto — doesn’t seem to give a single shit about any of that. Governor Newsom didn’t request the troops. He’s suing over it. But Trump’s still shoving federal boots into the state without invitation. No Insurrection Act. No emergency declaration. Just raw federal power pointed at civilians. And the military is… going along with it?
I grew up thinking the U.S. military was sworn to protect the Constitution. I believed it in my bones. I believed that if a government ever turned on its own people — and I mean truly turned — the military would stand between us and tyranny.
But now I have to ask: Were we wrong?
Maybe the National Guard isn’t really the military. Maybe they’re just federalized tools at this point — neutered by bureaucracy or loyalty to the chain of command. But that’s not the way it was when I was a kid. And if they won’t stand up against this kind of government overreach… who will?
Here’s the part that really blows my mind: local governments are rolling over too.
Right here in Florida, the Flagler Beach city council voted to cooperate with ICE. Why? What the hell are they so afraid of? Do they think this orange blowhard actually has some magical authority? He’s not some shadow dictator. He’s a walking press release with a Twitter addiction. And yet people act like he’s untouchable.
Is Congress scared? Hell yes, they are — and maybe they should be. Because if this bullshit keeps going, we’re going to throw them all out and start over. Period. If you’re not going to protect the people from authoritarian creep, then you’re not fit to hold office. The American people have a fuse — but it’s not infinite.
You know what this tells me?
The Second Amendment matters more now than ever.
Yeah, I said it. And I mean it.
If the system collapses — if the people who are supposed to protect our rights decide to follow orders instead of the law — then the only thing standing between free people and unchecked power is their ability to defend themselves. I’m not calling for violence. I’m not talking about going toe-to-toe with tanks. I’m talking about reminding our leaders that power flows from the people, not the other way around.
The National Guard is on our streets. Marines are standing by. And a president is using them not to defend us — but to silence us. Local governments are nodding along. Congress is too scared to stop it.
So ask yourself: Whose side is the military on?
And more importantly — whose side are you on?

“Local Government” is not a unified entity in itself. It’s a collection of countless smaller entities, and each of them is made up of a group of individuals. Some local governments are bowing to The Fucking Cheeto (and I use that term with exactly the respect he deserves), while others are defying him. I’m sure that among the individuals that make up the local governments, there is disagreement and conflict just like there is at the state level, and the national level. And the military is no exception. I’m sure there are some high ranking Cheeto loyalist who will follow orders without question. I’m also sure that there’s some high ranking officers who are loyal to The Constitution. And then there’s the boots on the ground. I’m sure the vast majority of them will do exactly what they’re told to do, but there will be some who engage in malicious compliance.
This nation is in a very dangerous situation. We’re headed for a proverbial cliff at high speed. But we’re not there yet. It’s not too late. And We The People are starting to take the wheel from the lunatic in the driver’s seat. First there was the Hands Off demonstrations (approximately 4 million people at 1400 locations across all 50 states), then No Kings (5 million people at about 2000 locations, across all 50 states, plus demonstrations in Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Japan).
As you stated, power flows from the people, not the other way around. The only way The Fucking Cheeto gets his way is if We The People sleep through this nightmare. But we’re waking up.
