Look, I know what some of you are thinking. It’s been several weeks since we dropped Part 1 of our massive, deep-dive exploration into the absolute gospel of AC/DC. Things happen. Life gets complicated, wires cross, and calendars slide. But do not mistake the radio silence for slacking. The music has never stopped falling, and I’m glad we’re finally getting back into the trenches to finish what we started.
First things first, Padded Cell Studios just got a massive structural upgrade. If you notice a sharper, cleaner resonance coming through your speakers, it’s because we completely ripped out the old workspace layout and installed a brand-new studio countertop. A massive shoutout and a debt of gratitude goes to our good friend Ben, who came over, rolled up his sleeves, and helped get all of that gear arranged and mounted perfectly.
While the studio was a construction zone of saws and solder, the creative signal didn’t sleep. If you’ve been keeping an eye on the blog, you already know we’ve been deeply embedded in the local Eau Claire music scene lately. We’ve been hitting live shows, talking to regional independent artists, and mapping out a killer lineup of brand-new music that is going to hit this program over the next several weeks. Go check out those recent blog posts to learn about the local scene and the people we’ve been talking to.
But tonight? Tonight is strictly about the high-voltage rock and roll legacy.
For Part 2, we are slicing directly through the heavy, grit-laden era of Flick of the Switch (1983) and Blow Up Your Video (1988), while giving a massive nod to the thunderous live raw power of the If You Want Blood tracks and Fly on the Wall (2008). I did sneak one strategic, calculated cut into the very end of the sequence—a replay of the legendary “Hells Bells” from Back in Black. Why? Because when you’re running a live board and find yourself with exactly 4 minutes of dead air to fill before the top-of-the-hour automation hits, you drop the ultimate needle on the ultimate riff and let it fade out perfectly as the system transitions. Consider it a bonus sneak peek, because we will replay it in full in two weeks anyway.
Turn the dial up. The circuit is live.
