so I had every intention of doing the John Mayall tribute deep dive this week but honestly, I’m still not done with the play list because he has done so much stuff. I pushed it back one more week just because I feel like it should be done right.
You may not have been aware, but there’s been quite a few albums that have come out in the last month and or the last few days. For this episode we’re gonna go back to the way DJs used to do album releases. We’re not gonna chop it up and only play a couple of cuts and then make you go by the record, which you should do anyway. For the next three hours, let’s all experience new music together shall we.
We’re gonna start out the night with Nilkilla and the album Ectopic Memories this will actually come out, right before our over the air broadcast. Great mix of interesting sounds. Thanks for letting us be the first radio show to play it.
We’re gonna follow that up with the latest from Highly Suspect . As Above, So Below which actually came out on 19 July. these guys have been around for a while. They’ve had a couple of songs that did pretty well in the past. This album is solid. It’s got a lot more blues influence to it at least in my opinion compared to the last couple of records that they put out.
we’re also going to take a listen to an album that has no name. The artist actually doesn’t even really need an introduction because you should know who he is if you don’t I’m talking about Jack White. And the album no name. This came out on August 2 and is it fucking good.
we will also be exploring Cellophane Memories released on Saturday by Chrystabell & David Lynch thanks Emu for the heads up. I would’ve missed this one and in return all of you would have as well.
there is one honorable mention that I snuck in at the very end which we will go back and explore some more in the coming weeks. That would be Peter fucking Gabriel.
He put out an album in December of 2023, actually a double album, two different mixes of the same set of music that I can’t take out of the player. It is really really good. I snuck a couple of cuts off the bright side mix record at the end of the show.
