I keep hearing people say “it’s not that bad.”
You sure about that?
Because from where I sit, things feel worse than I ever remember. Not just politically—though that’s a nightmare—but economically, socially, and spiritually. People are broke, burnt out, and boiling over.
I’ve been trying to write this for a few days, but it’s hard to wrap my head around all the ways things are going sideways.
Let’s start with ICE. We now live in a country where Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been militarized to the point that they are walking around in tactical gear, faces covered, carrying what sure as hell look like automatic weapons. They don’t need a warrant. They can enter your house if they believe there’s probable cause—whatever that means in today’s warped legal system. And somehow, this is just normal now?
Call me crazy, but doesn’t that sound a lot like Nazi Germany? When the SS kicked in doors and disappeared people? I know that comparison gets thrown around too easily, but have you seen the footage of these ICE agents? If you replaced the American flag patch with a swastika, most people wouldn’t blink.
Now before anyone comes at me with “well they’re here illegally”—stop. First of all, the Fourth Amendment doesn’t say “except for people you don’t like.” And second, this country was built on the idea of bringing in the tired, the poor, the huddled masses. That includes immigrants. Hell, it includes people you don’t think are worthy, too.
This feels like the beginning of something far darker. Once a government can round up one group without pushback, how long before they start rounding up others?
What happens when they decide disabled people are “undesirable” and start putting us away? That’s what they used to do, you know. Institutionalize us. Hide us. Pretend we didn’t exist.
And before you say, “that could never happen,” really think about who’s in charge. The clowns running this country have more money than they know what to do with and zero regard for human rights. If they decided to start making entire groups of people “disappear,” who exactly is going to stop them?
This isn’t conspiracy theory garbage. This is history repeating itself—and people are too numb to notice.
It’s not just ICE. It’s not just the disabled. It’s apathy in Congress. It’s silence from the people who should be leading. Democrats are frozen, clueless, or too afraid to act. The few real Republicans left? They’re either in shock or terrified of losing their seats.
Honestly, I don’t care what party you’re from. Just don’t be an asshole. Make sense. Use your brain. Stand for something.
And you know what really drove it home for me?
Back during the State of the Union, a congressman got thrown out for yelling at the President. Now sure, that’s not something you’re supposed to do. But did anybody notice what happened next?
The Republicans started singing “Goodbye” as he was escorted out of the chamber. These are the people who are supposed to be about law, order, and respect for institutions. Singing like a damn frat house while throwing one of their own under the bus.
The rules are gone. So maybe it’s time somebody challenged someone to a duel in the Capitol rotunda. At least then we’d know where people stood. Hit the damn reset button.
And don’t tell me it’s not affecting you.
If you don’t feel it yet, you’re not paying attention. Most people are feeling it—every time they go to the damn grocery store. I don’t even know how you buy food for your family without wondering, what the hell is going on?
Do the people who voted for the jackasses in power realize they’re in the same boat as the rest of us? Or are they too distracted by outrage bait and truck nuts to notice?
They’ll care when the F-150 and the side-by-side get repo’d.
And speaking of the economy—when I moved to Florida, it cost me $500 to rent a truck to bring my stuff down. Now, trying to leave this cesspool? $3,000. Same amount of stuff. Same route. Same distance. What the hell happened?
I’ll tell you what happened: greed, incompetence, and unchecked power.
We’ve let this go on too long. And if we don’t call it what it is—a creeping authoritarian nightmare—it’s going to devour everything.

Damn.
That’s quite a truth-bomb.
But that’s only half of The Truth.
While it’s true that the fascist will have their police state if we are complacent…
we’re NOT going to be complacent.
We will not surrender.
We will not cooperate.
We will not capitulate.
We will be arrested, jailed, and deported.
We will be harassed, and beaten, and disappeared.
We will be courageous, relentless, and brave.
We will organize.
We will mobilize.
We will persevere.
It’s possible that they might achieve their police state for a moment, but they won’t be able to keep it.
It will collapse under it’s own weight because it’s foundation is the fragile ego of a sad little man-child.
We don’t need to destroy them. They’ll self destruct eventually.
We only need to knock them off balance.
