1,290 episodes. Let that sink in for a second.
Last night, I did some math (dangerous, I know), and it turns out that the Jeff Beck deep dive I called Episode 338? Yeah, that was actually Episode 1,290.
One. Thousand. Two hundred. Ninety.
That’s nearly 30 years of broadcasting—so some of you might be wondering, Wait a minute, Lucas, shouldn’t that number be even higher?
Well, yes… and no.
See, back in 2014, I made a big mistake—I took a step back from the mic. Why? Because at the time, I was engaged, and my fiancée told me that if WORT really wanted me there, they’d be paying me. And like an absolute moron, I listened to her.
So, I stepped away. I was still involved, but I let my co-host, The Emu, take over. And when he left, someone else stepped in—until late 2018, when that person couldn’t do it anymore and WORT asked if I wanted to come back.
HELL YES, I WANTED TO COME BACK.
What you don’t know (unless you were on my personal Facebook friends list) is that after my divorce, I had already started doing the show again on my own, recording episodes and sending them to my friends.
So, after some serious number crunching (shoutout to my girlfriend for the help), we figured out the real episode count. And that means last night’s episode wasn’t 338. It was 1,290.
So we’re fixing it. The numbers will be accurate from here on out.
1,290 episodes. Nearly 30 years. And we’re just getting warmed up.
This is Rolling with Scissors. Let’s keep it rolling.
