So we all are influenced by music books, movies TV or friends. I’m sure we all have that one artist that completely changed our concept of the world and other things around us. When I was about 14 years old, I was introduced to Bob Marley.
A dear friend gave me a dubbed tape of what I now know is the album Legend. Growing up in the Midwest when you’re 14 reggae is not on your radar at least for most people.
I absorbed that tape for an entire summer. Nothing else just that album. I think that was the point when I realized really that there was something else going on, and somebody trying to spread peace if you will.

Unfortunately, he passed away May 11, 1981 of melanoma. He played his last show yesterday 09-23-1980 in Pittsburgh. And here’s where you guys catch my screwup in this weeks episode I believe I actually said Philadelphia. Whoops.
So this week we’re going to take a little break from the desert Island disc sets of music and explore some Bob Marley. I put together most of this set without using anything off of the actual legend album.

Thanks to F.R.P from Tropical Riddims which can be heard on Saturdays on WORT At Noon I now know that they actually did record the last set and turned it into an album. That is on its way and I’m sure we will explore it on a future episode.
