We had a plan. The whiteboard in the studio had everything mapped out beautifully for the next month. But if forty-plus years of navigating life and three decades of operating independent radio have taught me anything, it’s that the universe absolutely despises a plan.
Last night, we bumped Agent K’s feature block up by two full weeks.
Why the sudden schedule violence? Well, the official corporate-approved story is “programming optimization.” The real story involves an underground bunker in Viroqua, a highly classified analog distortion pedal, and a literal clerical error by the Ministry of Frequencies.
Apparently, Agent K ran afoul of a localized chronological distortion field while testing some heavy-duty shortwave gear. He managed to transmit a distress signal that translated roughly to: “If you don’t broadcast these specific tracks immediately, the atmospheric pressure will drop so low the beer at the local pub will flatline.”
As a veteran broadcaster and a guy who treats local brewing with deep theological respect, I couldn’t take that risk. We hijacked our own calendar, pulled the lever, and brought Agent K’s sonic payload to the front of the line. The timeline is restored, the carbonation is safe, and the airwaves are officially heavy.
