The High Voltage Resurrection: Episode 1348

Last week, Technologies decided to be a world-class bitch. My entire Dropbox folder—the place where all our promo files live and breathe—got completely corrupted. It was a digital blackout that I spent most of the week wrestling with. I hope you all enjoyed the deep-cut from the archives while I was MIA; having The Emu behind the mic was a classic trip down memory lane from my hiatus days.

But last night, the signal was restored. I was back in the portable air chair, ready to kick off a massive project: the AC/DC Multi-Part Deep Dive.

A History Lesson in High Voltage

We started in 1975 and began our march forward through the discography. There was some debate in the booth about who was screaming on those early tracks, so let’s set the record straight for the history books.

The first two hours of last night’s set were pure, unadulterated Bon Scott. From the grit of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (1975) all the way through to the closing notes of Highway to Hell (1979), that was Bon’s era. Even “Can I Sit Next to You Girl”—which originally featured Dave Evans in ’74—was the re-recorded Bon Scott version we played last night from the international High Voltage release.

The shift happened right at the tail end of the night. Brian Johnson didn’t officially join the fold until April 1980, following Bon’s tragic passing in February. While Back in Black was his legendary debut, our set moved into his second outing with the band: For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) from 1981.

This is just the beginning. There is a lot of AC/DC to cover, and we’re going to play it all.
