The Muscle Memory of a Rap God

I spent the morning in the trenches, wrestling with the backend of the new Rolling with Scissors store. I mentioned yesterday that I was spinning this up, and the gears are officially turning. Barring any catastrophic server meltdowns, we should be live and ready for deployment within the week.

But here’s the thing: when you’re elbow-deep in API keys and CSS, sometimes you don’t want to curate a three-hour industrial odyssey from your own library. Sometimes, you just want to turn on the fucking radio and let someone else drive the signal.

So, I threw on some streaming music and, for some reason, the algorithm landed on Eminem.

I haven’t touched a Marshall Mathers track in at least five years. But as the beat dropped, something happened. That 30-year radio veteran brain took over. I found myself hitting every syllable, keeping pace with that jagged, high-velocity cadence like I’d been practicing it this morning. It blew me the fuck away.

It turns out some signals never actually leave the archives; they just sit in the back of your skull waiting for the right frequency to trigger the playback. It’s pure muscle memory.

Take a break from your own curated bullshit today. Go back and throw on some Eminem. You’ll be surprised at how much of that lyrical violence you still have stored in your internal hard drive.

The store is coming. The cadence remains. Stay tuned.
