For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to stories about the end of the world. Some people find comfort in fairy tales or mysteries — for me, it’s survival stories, the what-ifs, the grit it takes to keep going when the world falls apart. I’ve read them, I’ve listened to them, and somewhere along the way, the idea of trying my hand at writing one started to stick in my head.
Today marks something a little different here on the blog.
If you’ve been following along, you’ve probably noticed a big wave of new posts — a mix of Rolling with Scissors episode notes and something completely new: chapters from an original story called Signal Drift. It’s been quietly developing in the background for a while now — realistically, six months or so — just floating around, taking shape. Today, I finally pulled the trigger and started sharing it with the world.
Signal Drift now has its own dedicated category here on the blog. It’s a survival story set in a fractured America, where the old systems have collapsed and only a stubborn few refuse to let communication — or hope — completely die. The chapters will be posted just like everything else: clean, organized, and easy to find.
Of course, some things around here aren’t changing.
The weekly episode notes for Rolling with Scissors will still roll out like clockwork.
And the random crazy thought blog posts — the ones where I throw out observations, frustrations, and everything else life throws at me — usually happen about once a week too, and that’s not going anywhere.
Signal Drift might eventually settle into a weekly rhythm as well — but I’m not making any promises yet. Some weeks, there might be a standalone chapter. Other times, I might do a bigger content drop like today. It’ll happen naturally, based on when the chapters are ready and when life allows.
The short version?
More music, more crazy thoughts, more storytelling — and hopefully, something worth thinking about every time you stop by.
