We play all sorts of music on the program. There is no genre that is off-limits. Today I wanna talk to you about jazz. I love jazz, but when it comes to jazz, there are many many many many people who know a lot more about the subject than I do.

In my almost 30 years at WORT community radio, I got to hear a lot of jazz because I did a lot of shifts during the day.

 My favorite day shifts to do were Wednesday and Thursday. From 2 PM to 5 PM Wednesday was journeys into jazz. Thursday was Strictly Jazz Sounds. I will do another blog post about Wednesday at some point.

I used to be the receptionist for Strictly Jazz Sounds with Jane Reynolds and Steve Braunginn.

They would trade off. It was kind of cool because they both approached jazz from different angles. I learned a lot from both of them.

They have both moved on to other things. There is a big hole at WORT because they are no longer there.

Steve Braunginn Took a little bit of a break and then came out with the strictly jazz sounds podcast. He does some really great interviews with amazing artists.

If you want an education in jazz, it’s definitely worth checking out.
